Dis-moi oui, dis-moin on

Back and forth constantly: Cécile (Valeria Bruni Tedeschi) is indecisive. As soon as she says something, she expresses the exact opposite, so long as she doesn't have to commit to anything. She has a friend (Emmanuelle Devos), a boyfriend and a lover - who is in turn her friend's boyfriend. This short graduation film, made when Lvovsky was at La Fémis, seems like a preliminary study for OUBLIE-MOI. (bik)

Oublie-moi

Nathalie (Valeria Bruni Tedeschi), who is in her mid-20s, can't accept the fact that her ex-boyfriend Eric won't have anything to do with her. She stalks him, in the métro, outside his apartment, and at work. She makes her current boyfriend Antoine, who loves her and with whom she lives, suffer, eventually leaving him and switching to her friend's boyfriend temporarily. Restless, she rushes through Paris, plunging headlong into despair and living her unhappiness with passionate intensity. "There Is No Time" sings Lou Reed. The nervous energy of Bruni Tedeschi's furious performance, erratic close-ups and natural lighting characterize Lvovsky's low-budget feature-length debut, which depicts the malaise of young people getting older and afraid to make decisions in the 1990s.
